How Does AI “Read” Public Opinion? — Media, Social Listening, and Algorithmic Bias
With the widespread adoption of ChatGPT and generative AI, algorithms are increasingly influencing not only how information is disseminated, but also how it is received and interpreted.
This session will explore how AI handles intangible and hard-to-quantify concepts such as “public opinion,” “social atmosphere,” and “trends.” We will also examine the biases that can emerge and be reproduced in the process.
From the diverse perspectives of media editors, marketers, and AI developers, we will delve into both the limitations and possibilities of how AI interprets our information environment—and how we can preserve public interest in the face of these shifts.
