    Japan’s Innovations, the World’s Future

Japan is one of the first countries to face major social challenges such as super-aging and labor shortages—yet this positions us to lead with solutions for the rest of the world. At the same time, Japan holds unique strengths: rich cultural and natural assets, globally respected content IPs, top players in niche markets, and vast financial capital. Today, with policy reform and growing job mobility, entrepreneurship is becoming a more accessible and realistic choice.
Let’s turn our challenges into strengths and elevate them to the global stage. I hope IVS Seed becomes the place where you meet the people who will walk that next step with you.

    Yuto Tokiwa

    Ernst & Young ShinNihon LLC

With prior experience at a leading consulting firm and a major audit corporation, I joined EY ShinNihon LLC in 2021. Since then, I have been primarily engaged in IPO advisory services, supporting a diverse portfolio of clients ranging from early-stage startups to publicly listed companies. As a core member of EY Startup Innovation, EY Japan’s dedicated startup support team, I have led numerous initiatives including IPO preparation, large-scale fundraising, and strategic business planning. In 2023, I established EY Startup Lab with the aim of further fostering the growth of Japan’s startup ecosystem.

You can't drive change by just pretending. Let’s reshape Japan’s future.

There was a time when Japanese companies dominated the global market capitalization rankings. Today, they are notably absent. In an era defined by breakthroughs like generative AI, Japan must double down on fostering startups that can deliver new industries and business models.
IVS Growth exists to ignite and sustain that momentum. Not through superficial change—but by tackling structural transformation head-on. Let’s envision what a truly Japan-optimized startup can look like, confront social challenges, and build a new era together with those who are ready to lead it.
