IVS2025 Welcome Remarks

The welcome session serving as the opening of IVS2025. What are the aims and significance of this IVS2025? The Governor of Kyoto Prefecture, Mayor of Kyoto City, and IVS Representative Shimakawa will extend their greetings to everyone.
Following this session, the RM1-1 session program will continue. Those participating in RM1-1, please enter from this program.

    Toshiaki Shimakawa

    Principal at Headline Asia and Representative of IVS. Graduated from the Graduate School of Frontier Biosciences at Osaka University. Conducted research in molecular biology and neuroscience at RIKEN. Joined Infinity Ventures LLP (now Headline Asia) in 2017, where he has been involved in investment activities as well as the planning and operation of “IVS,” an invitation-only conference attended by around 700 top executives from the IT industry.

    He was also a founding member and Head of Corporate Planning at 17 Media Japan (now 17LIVE Inc.), a company that became Japan’s top live-streaming platform in terms of revenue within just two years.

    Appointed CEO in 2020, he led the transformation of IVS from an exclusive event to an open conference, culminating in “IVS2024 KYOTO,” which drew 12,000 participants. He is now working tirelessly to create a new, next-generation IVS for entrepreneurs.

      Mayor

      Koji Matsui

      Born in Kyoto. After graduated from the University of Tokyo, he joined the Ministry of International Trade and Industry, working for the Prime Minister’s Office and leading administrative and financial reform. He was first elected as a member of the House of Councilors in 2001 and served as the Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary. After retiring from politics, he taught at Keio University. In February 2024, he assumed the office of Mayor of Kyoto. His mottos are “Compassion, Duty, and Endurance.” His hobbies include visiting izakaya pubs, coffee shops, and bars, appreciating traditional Japanese art such as Rakugo, Noh and Kyogen, and Bunraku, and listening to classical music.

          Takatoshi Nishiwaki

          Born in Kyoto in 1955, he graduated from the University of Tokyo and joined the Ministry of Construction in 1979. He held senior roles including Director of Public Relations, Deputy Director-General of the Road Bureau, and Vice-Minister of Land, Infrastructure, and Tourism. In 2016, he became Vice-Minister of the Reconstruction Agency. Elected Kyoto Governor in 2018, now in his second term.

            Headline Asia プリンシパル。IVS 代表。大阪大学大学院生命機能研究科卒。理化学研究所で分子生物学/神経学の研究に従事。2017年インフィニティベンチャーズLLP（現：Headline Asia）に入社し、投資活動に加え、IT企業の経営者層が約700名参加する招待制カンファレンス「IVS」の運営や日本最大のライブ配信アプリを提供する株式会社17 Media Japan（現：17LIVE株式会社）の創業メンバー・経営企画室 室長として2年間で日本のライブ配信業界において売上1位を達成する。2020年より代表取締役に就任。招待制カンファレンスからオープンなカンファレンスに進化させた「IVS2024 KYOTO」では1.2万人が参加。起業家のためのさらに新しいIVSを創るため奔走中。

              市長

              松井 孝治

              - Koji Matsui -

              京都市中京区の旅館の次男として生まれ、旅館の一室で育つ。家業は兄が継ぐため、自身は社会のためになる仕事をすると決意し、東京大学教養学部教養学科を経て、通商産業省に入省、首相官邸への出向や行財政改革の中枢を担う。２００１年に参議院議員選挙に初当選、内閣官房副長官としても活躍。政界を引退後、慶應義塾大学で教鞭をとり、次代を担う若者の育成に尽力する。２０２４年２月に京都市長に就任、座右の銘は「義理と人情とやせ我慢」、趣味は、居酒屋・喫茶・バーめぐり、落語、能・狂言、文楽など伝統芸能、古典音楽の観賞。

                  西脇 隆俊

                  - Takatoshi Nishiwaki -

                  1955年京都市生まれ。1979年東京大学法学部卒業後、建設省（現国土交通省）に入省。大臣官房広報課長・会計課長や道路局次長、総合政策局長、大臣官房長、国土交通審議官などを歴任し、2016年には復興庁事務次官を務める。2018年に京都府知事選挙に当選し、現在2期目を務める。
